Problem Solving 101, great “light weight” book

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

My freind Abdullah AlGhnaim has recommended one book called “PROBLEM SOLVING 101″. I went to Jarir, and I bought and I included it to my “TO READ” list. After I finish my current book (it was Oracle Night), I decided to jumb to the end of the list and read this book, and it was a right decision.

This book was written by a Japanese writer called Ken Watanabe and he is targeting the Japanese schoolchildren. It is talking about different techniques how to solve problem. It also explains how to challenge your decision, and list your avilable option and how to choose the correct one.

As I said, it is a light weight book, and it is good to read it in spare time. Thanks Abdo.

EnglishTown >>> It Is The Best

Friday, February 8th, 2008

A few years back, I was looking for a web resources that can help me improve my English skills. I found a plenty of documents and web sites that contain a huge amount of information. However, one web site called EnglishTown.com had attracted me and I was excited to find out more about it. I decided to sign up, and enrolled into one of its levels.

When I started the scheduled program, I was amazed about the way it conduct the courses. There are 12 levels, each level contains 8 chapters, each chapter divided into13 tasks:

- Tasks from 1 to 4 demonstrate the subject of the chapter. It shows grammars, new words as well as playing a movie about the subject.

- Task from 5 to 9 test your understanding of the whole chapter in different skills (Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking).

- Task from 10 to 12 contain more advanced tests. Task number 10 is a one hour conversation (chatting) class. There is one instructor in this class and a three to eight students. The test score is sent immediately after the class. Task 11 is a writing class. You are asked to write a number of words about a specific subject. The instructor makes the correction off-line and sends the score within 48 hours via email. Task number 12 is a site tour test. It gives you a site, and you are asked to make a tour in this site. When you came back it will ask you a few question about the site, and the score will be generated immediately.

- Task number 13 is the final test. It tests all what you learned during the chapter.

EnglishTown is designed to make the study life as easy as possible. Everyone can continue his study any time any where.

“Englishtown developed its Efekta™ system over 5 years and with US$40 million dollars with one purpose in mind: to combine teachers with technology in a way that radically quickens the pace of learning.”, quoted from EnglishTown.com.

In addition, EnglishTown provide a new way to learn by creating a language community. Each student can sign up freely and invite as much students as he can and then they can teach each other using tools such as videos, quizzes, chatting and lessons.

By following this way, I think you will gain a huge amount of information, and you will fill all gaps in your knowledge.

“Congratulations Saad, and good luck for the next step”
